Fabric Ruffle & Flower & WOYWW

I have lots of fabric left over from when I used to make my purse organizers (pic below) and wondered how a fabric ruffle would look on a card instead of  paper one, so I gave it a try with this card and also made a flower with the same fabric.  I thought it turned out pretty good, although the flower is a little too big for this card.
To cut down on the sewing, I used my pinking shears to cut a strip of fabric about 1.5 inches wide, then stitched along one side and gathered it till it was the  length I needed.  Then I took a strip of white c/s scored it down the centre & wrapped it over the top and used double sided tape to stick it down on the front and back.  I then added a couple of strips of narrow ribbon.  It is sparkly, but of course it didn't show in the picture.  For the flower I did the same thing, but used a slightly narrower piece of fabric, gathered it tight, sewed the two edges together, then stuck a c/s circle to the back and finally added the button to the centre. The leaves I cut out with my pinking shears from some very textured c/s.

Here's a couple of my organizers

Now for WOYWW

At the far end of the table you can see my very sophisticated (not) set-up for taking my pictures.  Here's a better view of it.  I use an Ott lamp and no flash.  My camera is a little Canon PowerShot SD 1400 digital.

Hope you are all having a wonderful day, thanks for stopping by.

Happy Fall!

Yesterday I purchased a stack of fall themed paper.  It is "Recollections" "Simply Autumn".  I love the fall, it's my favourite season and here in Alberta, Canada, it has been a beautiful fall, the weather has been perfect.  I tend to stay away from doing cards with pumpkins, because they are usually associated with halloween, which I don't do.  So these are simply a part of fall.  I added the sentiment, coloured with my Copics & cut out with Nesties, then finished off with a raffia bow.

You can see the sparkles better here, the paper is very pretty.

Here's a closer view of the sentiment:

Thanks so much for stopping by today, hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend.

Another Funky Fold Card

I made this shoe (which measures 51/4 inches) a few weeks ago and I've been wanting to make a card with it ever since....this morning I did.

Here's the inside...
The background papers are DCWV metallic stack, the paper I used for the shoe is from the DCWV glitter stack.  I  punched out the circles and the flowers from another paper in the stack.  The flower on the shoe is from my stash.  I used silver cording to go around the sole of the shoe and across the bottom of the card & stuck it on with 'micro' glue dots, very handy for things like this. Here is where you can find the template for the shoe.  While you're there check out the video tutorial for the crepe paper flower.  I made some and they turned out great, very pretty!

The funky fold card tutorial can be found here.

Till next time, have fun!

*End of Chemo* Party

Here's some pictures from our party yesterday.

A Special Thank You!

This is my second post for today.
I made this thank you card for the staff at the cancer clinic where my hubby has been having chemo for the past 6 months.  They have been just super and we appreciate them all very much ~ from our oncologist to the lovely lady, who as a cancer patient herself, volunteers at the clinic every week.
Friday will be his last treatment....woo hoo!!!

Recipe for my card...
The cute nurse is *Nurse Gillian* a digi image from Prairie Fairy.
Coloured with Copics and cut out with Nesties, then popped up on top of the next size Nestie. (hard to see here)
Sorry, can't remember where the sentiment is from.
I added a paper bow (look under *tutorials* in labels for the instructions on how to make this)

 A closer look

 The  inside
I punched out the flowers, then punched the holes and added a couple of circles to the centres.

A close-up of her glasses (glossy accents) and glittery earrings.

Thanks a bunch        for stopping by.
Till next time.....

Memories of Us!

THE COVER

This was made with a page from the Recollections *Stitch in Time* paper pad.  I cut out the flowers, pots, leaves and table cloth from the paper, then embossed the flowers leaves & pots to round them out, glued them onto the paper and added a button to the centre of each flower. I bound it with my Cinch and added ribbons to the binding.
(Since I took this picture I added sparkles to the title)

Some of the inside pages...

My hubby and me (or is it I) at a local trade fair in 1991.

Hubby in his workshop.
I used a template found online to make the apron.  Cut out each piece from denim paper, inked the edges with distress ink, then added the tools to the pocket.

There are 3 pages here of the pets we have owned over the years. Sophie and Alfie we have now, unfortunately Toby died just over a year ago.  He was 12years old, we had him from a few weeks old.

A few years ago at a hotel in California the morning we left on a cruise.  The large flower is one I found on sale at Scrapbookers Paradise. I cut out the swirl on my Cricut.

We took a trip to England in 2009.  Here we are with some of our family (we're in the middle)  I added a paper ruffle to one end of this page.

My lovely hubby on a cruise we took in January of this year.

In the pool at our condo in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico

Dancing at our sons wedding.....almost 25 years ago!! Gulp!! ;=)
The birdcage is cut with my Cricut.  I added thin red strips of paper to the back so it would show through the holes.  The edging is cut out with an EK Success edge punch.

This is the last page which opens up from the top and bottom.

Inside the last page.
We can be as goofy as anyone, as you can see!

THE BACK COVER

Most of the sentiments I used in this album are from TLC and Ginger.  I have links to their blogs on the right.

I haven't included all the album pages here, I think that's probably enough for now..... but there are a couple more pages on recent posts.

Appreciate so much you stopping by to look at my blog, I'll be back with more soon.
